Dehradun: VHP General Secretary Praveen Togadiya has demanded that the Union Government pass legislation against the dumping of household and industrial waste in the Ganga .
Togadiya, who is in town to collect the Dharma Raksha Nidhi, held an informal meet with scribes today at the Ramteerth Mission’s auditorium. He said that the legislation ought to prohibit all houses and industries from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar from disposing of waste in the river. He threatened to launch a campaign for safeguarding theGanga if appropriate action was not taken. Togadiya also criticised the proposals to construct dams for power-generation on the Ganga and said that the move would go against not only nature and religion, but also the sentiments of millions of people.
