Mahashivratri celebrated with fervour in Nainital

Nainital: The Mahashivratri was celebrated with great religious fervour and devotion.All the temples of the city were thronged with the crowd of devotees of Lord Shiva today on the occasion of Maha Shivratri.Long queues of devotees were seen in the temples awaiting their turn to perform worship.
The Naina Devi, Pashan Devi, Hanuman Garh, Gufa Mahadev and Shani temples were decorated with the flowers and were crowded since the wee hours and the devotees had to stand in the queues for long time.The devotees performed Jalabhishek of the Lingam, using water,curd,honey and milk amid chanting of Bam Bhole and Om Namah Shivay. A 30 member team of Kanwars also reached Nainital with Ganga Jal to offer it to the Lord Shiva.The Bael leaves were also offered to the Lord. Majority of the children, young, old, married, unmarried observed fast to propitiate Lord Shiva.
The Shani Temple at the Thandi Sarak celebrated its anniversay by performing various rituals and holding Akhand Ramayan Path, which would conclude on 13th and Yagna and Bhandara would be organised thereafter.The temple manager Hem Joshi has invited the people to part take the Prasad.
