Trivendra Singh Rawat noted that it was sad that polythene had become an essential part of everyone’s life during past few decades. This was despite the fact that the dangerous consequences had become well known. The consequences were so horrendous that polythene had resulted into death of thousands of cattle and all the rivers including the divine Ganga were being polluted as a result of indiscriminate use of polythene.
Rawat called upon the Doon residents to make it a habit of using cloth and jute bags so that these industries could be revived and lakhs of workers could get re-employed apart from the environmental benefits that would accrue as a result.
